I think the theme of The maze runner is "Saving others might led to HAPPINESS, teamwork, or even feeling better about yourself" There are many reasons why i think this is the theme. a lot of times one of the CHARACTERS will save someone even though they might not even like them as a person. and in the glade everyone works as a team and they want to feel better, so saving someone might make them or you happy. This HAPPENED once when thomas wanted to save alby "hE could'nt leave a friend to die. even someone as cranky as ably." (Dashner #120). this explains a lot BECAUSE later thomas gets happy and more people APPRECIATE him than before. He ACTUALLY saved alby's life from the griever. Thomas also felt SADNESS for someone he saved, but he did'nt even like him. "ben's final scream were cut off when the walls closed with a terrible boom. thomas squeezed his eyes shut and was SURPRISED to feel tears trickling down his cheeks" (Dashner #95) This explains the theme BECAUSE the boy whos dying was beating up thomas and thomas might have felt that he saved the boy. The theme shows up again when minho saves thomas. "he stopped when he realized it was minho. 'what--' 'SHUT up and follow me! minho yelled, already dragging thomas away until he was able to get his feet under him" (Dashner #135) This shows theme BECAUSE minho doesn't really lke thomas but he has to save thomas and he wants to do whats best. Also after Minho saved thomas he was happy and felt good about saving thomas. these were my reasons why my theme worked well. When ever someone got saved in the maze runner usally the CHARACTER got more appreciated by other members in the glade witch leads to a happier person, happier society, improved RELATIONSHIPS between characters, and more improved teamwork.
